Mr. Al Banwan received his Bachelor of Science (Finance and Administration) degree from University of Kuwait in 1982 and currently Vice Chairman and CEO of Coast Investment and Development company and also Vice-chairman of Gulf Cable and Electrical Industries Company(2004-todate). Mr. Al Bawan has 40 years experience in Ttelecommunication, Investments, Financial Services industry.

Mr. Al Banwan was the Chairman of the Board of Directors (2005-2017), Vice-Chairman (2002-2005) and Board Member (1999-2002) of Zain Group.  He was Board member, Vice-Chairman and President (2005-2012) and Chairman & Managing Director (2001-2005) of National Investments Company, Kuwait. He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Seera Investment Bank, Bahrain (2007-2012), Board member in Tamdeen Real Estate Co (1992-1995). He is also involved in cultural and sporting activities and is the current Chairman of Kazma Sporting club, Kuwait.
